This title is a great addition to anyone who likes the hate to love, enemies to lovers, fake relationships story tropes, and while it’s not the greatest story involving these kinds of storyline, it’s still a lot of fun to read! What It’s About: I still enjoy their books, don’t get me wrong, but it just doesn’t seem like their standalone titles coming out now measure up as much to me. I for one will always recommend their work towards anyone looking for a funny, romantic, witty, easy going beach read, but lately for me it seems like their books aren’t getting that extra oomph factor that I felt in their Beautiful Bastard series. The co-author duo of Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings have come together to write another swoon-worthy, romantic comedy title that I think many readers will enjoy immensely! Yes, it’s with my nemesis, but still, I’ll take it.” – Christina Lauren, “The Unhoneymooners” I can treat this trip like an actual vacation on a tropical island. But it isn’t necessarily a spoiler, even though I’m glad for my own experience that I was allowed to reach the conclusion organically. I buried it behind a spoiler tag in that review and I’m doing the same here, for reasons. Speaking of labels, I still find myself reluctant to spell out what I realized in book 1. It’s a thing that has to be experienced, not labeled. Growing? Learning? Adapting? None of those feel quite right either. And tbh change might not be the right word, but I’m at a loss for what to call it. To the outside observer, he probably didn’t change much, if at all, from the volume’s beginning to end. It’s 100% a character story, but… I can’t wait to read more of this character.ĭavid’s evolution in this book was so touching, so remarkable, and yet - it came in microdoses. TF has done an amazing job writing David, and I can’t remember ever feeling this impatient for the next release when it ISN’T EVEN PLOT DRIVEN AT ALL. It’s been a looong time since a character got this firmly under my skin. Other notable books authored by Cather include A Lost Lady (1923) and Death Comes for the Archbishop (1927). Cather won the Pulitzer Prize in 1923 for her World War I novel One of Ours (1922). Known for her novels’ powerful sense of place, Cather elevated regional literature into the mainstream and created heroic portrayals of the often scorned hard-toiling European immigrants. My Ántonia is considered one of Cather’s most outstanding novels for its encapsulation of the pioneer experience on the Nebraskan frontier. The other two books, O Pioneers! (1913) and The Song of the Lark (1915) also feature strong female characters from immigrant families in a Great Plains setting but are otherwise unrelated. My Ántonia, first published in 1918, is the third novel in what reviewers sometimes refer to as “The Prairie Trilogy” or “The Great Plains Trilogy” by celebrated American author Willa Cather (1873-1947). One of them, Bobby, even looked a bit like him, but Raghu Karnad had not noticed until he was the same age as they were in their photo-frames. Indians had never figured in his idea of the war, nor the war in his idea of India - and he thought that he had a good idea of both. They had all been in the Second World War, a fact that surprised him. Three young men gazed at him from silver-framed photographs in his grandmother's house, 'beheld but not noticed, as angels are in a frieze full of mortal strugglers'. In 1992, he drew the comic book adaptation of the film Bram Stoker's Dracula for Topps Comics. By the late 80s he had begun to develop his signature style (thin lines, clunky shapes and lots of black) and moved onto higher profile commercial projects like Cosmic Odyssey (1988) and Gotham by Gaslight (1989) for DC Comics, and the not-so-commercial Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser (1990) for Marvel. In 1982, hoping to find a way to draw monsters for a living, he moved to New York City and began working for Marvel Comics, first as a (very terrible) inker and then as an artist on comics like Rocket Raccoon, Alpha Flight and The Hulk. His fascination with ghosts and monsters began at an early age (he doesn't remember why) and reading Dracula at age 13 introduced him to Victorian literature and folklore from which he has never recovered.
